Index maintenance and monitoring

The type of indexes and the administration possibilities can be quite different in SAP BW compared to R/3.
Assign responsibility for the creation, maintenance and monitoring of indexes. Responsible team members should have a good understanding of the performance values of indexes, but also the maintenance costs. They should also have a good awareness of the data flows and should regularly check for missing and degenerated indexes.
Tools and logs which can be used to detect degenerated indexes include:
- Transaction RSRV
- The Administrator workbench -> Right-click on the InfoCube -> Manage -> Performance tab
- Transaction DB14 -> Log for statistics collection
- Transaction DB02 -> Missing indexes
